On the opening night of his Hamlet play, ageing actor Bradley Hemming struggles to decide between the prestige of the theatre and the fun of a return to Horror films.
‘Scream King’ is my graduate film for the Film and Moving Image Production course at Norwich University of the Arts. The film combines elements from all of my previous works: it is about the pursuit of happiness, it deals with mature themes while also being entertaining, and its a love letter to 70s and 80s Horror films.
‘Scream King’ came from my own frustration at wanting to tells a mature story but also wanting to make an entertaining genre film. Ultimately I decided to pour my own thoughts and feelings into the character of Bradley Hemming, to imagine what my life might be like if I made the films people where expecting of me instead of the films I wanted to make.
The film is currently under consideration for various film festivals, and will be made available online after it has had its festival run.
